Hi, we are students of Biomedical Engineering in Mexico City.

We were asked to present a poster of any medical dispositive and we are really interested in presenting your proyect.

If you have some posters, charts or some material to present your device we would be grateful.

If don´t you could help us answering some questions:

-Does the device affect hormonally the pacient (even when it doesn´t use hormones in the process)?

-When a man gets a vasectomy he has to wait some time for it to be 100% effective because of the residual sperm that stays in the conducts. How many time do you have to wait to be sure that you don´t have residual sperm in your sperm conducts every time you turn off the pass of sperms with the switch?

-Does it have some secondary effects?

-How often you can turn on and off the switch and in which cases it would be harmful to our body?

-Does having the switch affects the levels of sperms in the eyaculation? How much?

-Does the device have a lifetime?

-How often does the pacient need to check the switch with a doctor? Does it requieres an special doctor?

Q1: Does the device affect hormonally the pacient (even when it doesn´t use hormones in the process)?

A1:No. There are no hormonical effects.

Q2:When a man gets a vasectomy he has to wait some time for it to be 100% effective because of the residual sperm that stays in the conducts. How many time do you have to wait to be sure that you don´t have residual sperm in your sperm conducts every time you turn off the pass of sperms with the switch?

A2: The valve works in general the same way as a vasectomy: the vas is cut and the sperm flow blocked. So you will have the same time schedules to get sterile as with a vasectomy.

Q3:Does it have some secondary effects?

A3: We do not think so. But at least the clinical trials will bring consolidated results.
Q4: How often you can turn on and off the switch and in which cases it would be harmful to our body?
A4: There is no limit. The valve is high tech with materials known in surgery since deacdes. Also we think that the people will not switch it very often. Why should they? They want be sterile, so most of the time it will be closed. Then you want to have a child, so you open the valve. Once your wife is pregnant, you will close it again. After 3-6 months (or when the baby is born) you will be sterile again and that’s it.
Q5: Does having the switch affects the levels of sperms in the eyaculation? How much?
A5: Nope, we do not think so.

Q6:Does the device have a lifetime?
A6: No. You can wear all your life.

Q7: How often does the pacient need to check the switch with a doctor? Does it requieres an special doctor?
A7: There is no reason to check it on a regulary basis. One scenario Mr Bimek has anticipated already: What happens, if the valve is blocked after a longer period of being closed? Then a andrologist can flush the valve with a syringe.
